Akon announces plan to build second Akon City
The rapper and producer Akon announces his cryptocurrency construction plans in coordination with the government of Uganda. Akon was allotted one square mile for Akon City by the Ugandan government that will kickstart his development project.

Akon City is set to be fully built by 2036 and the city will operate on AKoin cryptocurrency developed by Akon himself. This new project will be an expansion of Akon’s ongoing project of building a similar city in his native country of Senegal.
Akon is keeping his plans private and wouldn’t answer the question of how much this project would cost after being asked three times in an interview. Though Akon is keeping his funding private, it roughly costs $6 billion to construct the sister Akon city in Senegal.
The cost of the construction remains a mystery along with the amenities included in Akon City, Uganda but is expected to follow in the footsteps of the sister Senegal city. The blueprints of Akon City in Senegal feature a Hamptons Mall, Hampton Hospital campus, recreation facilities, schools, stadiums, a police department, and parks.
