April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month, but even though the month has long passed, pet owners should always be aware of how to take care of their pet in the event their health takes a wrong turn.
Pet owners can get all the answers to their pressing canine health questions right in the palm of their hand. The American Red Cross has released a Pet First Aid app that gives pet owners instant access to potentially lifesaving health and safety information for dogs as well as cats.
The app offers basic step-by-step guides accompanied by videos and pictures to guide users through some common first aid and emergency situations. The app also provides resources to help detect illnesses early on and resources on preventative care.
Moreover, the Pet First Aid app provides emergency veterinarian contact information and allows users to create a profile for each of pet in order to keep track of their appointments separately.
Pet owners will learn what emergency supplies to are important to have on hand, when they should contact their veterinarian, and where to find a pet care facility or pet-friendly hotel. The app also teaches user how to assemble a pet first aid kit and an emergency kit.
The Pet First Aid app is available for download on both iPhones and Android smart phones.
Pet owners can also take the American Red Cross Cat and Dog First Aid online course to learn how to determine a pet’s normal vital signs, learn what to do in the event a pet is choking, needs CPR, or has a wound.
