The New Batman Revealed
According to a report from Variety, actor Robert Pattinson is set to seal the deal on playing Batman in the forthcoming Warner Bros. superhero film, “The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves. As of right now though, a representative for Warner Bros. told CNN, “We do not have a deal.”
Even though things are not set in stone at the moment, the internet and fans across the globe are not entirely thrilled of the “Twilight” actor donning the iconic Bat-suit.
A lot of people have begun expressing their contempt online, and there are even petitions being launched calling for Pattinson to be replaced before he is officially cast. Some are even comparing the casting to the Ben Affleck controversy in which Affleck took over the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad” and “Justice League” – a casting selection that did not go over well with many DC Comics devotees.
But while many are unhappy, likewise, there are some who are genuinely interested in seeing how Pattinson playing Batman could turn out. Some are even comparing the hoopla to the situation that surrounded Heath Ledger’s selection as the Joker in “The Dark Knight.” Many were skeptical at first, but the role earned Ledger, who died in 2008 from an accidental overdose, a posthumous Oscar.
“The Batman” is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2021.
