There are some things that a head-coach doesn’t want to see, and that’s having one of your guys go down in the middle of a football game.
That was the story for the Miami Dolphins head-coach, Adam Gase, on August 3, 2017.
Only that this time, it happened in his own backyard.
Ryan Tannehill injured his leg in a non-contact 11-on-11 practice. At the time, players and coaches feared that Tannehill may have been suffering from a torn ACL just from the way that he was limping off the field.
A torn ACL requires about six to nine months to heal, making it a season-ending surgery for any player who suffers from it.
Three days after it was announced that Ryan Tannehill would be out for the season the Miami Dolphins signed recently retired quarterback Jay Cutler to act as his replacement.
But things weren’t over for hill.
An entire season passes and he recovers, and his head coach Adam Gase announces him as the starting quarterback for the Dolphins.
Former dolphins players like Sam Adison were excited for his return expecting the best from Tannehill. He says in an interview, “We already know that hes an elite player but we need and he needs that confirmation. A stellar season to say hey, I know I can play this game and I can compete with any other of the 32 quarterbacks in the league. ”
