Tesla Rolls Out Dog Mode
Tesla has dog owners and their pet’s safety in mind with a recent feature called “Dog Mode.”
If you need to run into a store, Tesla’s “dog mode” will not only keep your dog cool while the vehicle is off, it will inform passersby that they are safe.
Tesla tweeted that the feature lets drivers, “set a cabin temperature to keep your dog comfortable while letting passersby know they don’t need to worry.”
CEO Elon Musk tweeted, “This is in addition to existing Cabin Overheat Protection, which come on automatically at high temps to ensure any babies or pets in the car are safe.”
Musk pitched the idea for Dog Mode late last year, suggesting that it would aim at reducing chances of dogs or other animals succumbing to heat stroke when left unattended.
Similar to Tesla’s overheat cabin function that keeps cars from exceeding 105 degrees while off, drivers will be able to select a temperature for the car to maintain when it is not running. The car will also display a message that reads, “My owner will be back soon. Don’t worry! The A/C is on and it’s (temperature of car).”
In instances of cold weather, it will also heat the vehicle, so pets can stay warm.
In addition to Dog Mode, Tesla will be adding Sentry Mode, a security feature that would aim at reducing chances of vehicle harm and theft.
