The Fastest Moment in SailGP History (103.93 km/h)

A sailboat reached 103.93 km/h without an engine but just wind.

That incredible moment came when ROCKWOOL Denmark set a new SailGP speed record at the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz. The previous record was 99.97 km/h, set during Season 3 in Saint-Tropez. Denmark didn’t just beat the old record. They pushed past 100 km/h and kept going.

But being the fastest boat doesn’t automatically mean you will win the race.

While Denmark was making history with its incredible speed, the rest of the fleet was locked in a tough tactical battle. Coaches watched the wind from shore and called out changes in direction and pressure. The teams split across the racecourse, looking for the strongest wind and the best possible position.

Los Gallos from Spain moved into second place, while NorthStar Canada took a risky approach that nearly cost them. Every decision mattered, and one mistake could completely change the race.

Then Tom Slingsby and BONDS Flying Roos from Australia made their move. They timed their run perfectly and started cutting through the fleet during the final legs. In the closing stages, Australia passed the boats ahead and took the victory, stealing the win from the fastest boat on the water.

There was another major twist near the end. Emirates GBR appeared to be heading toward a top-six finish, but everything changed in just one leg. They suddenly fell all the way to 11th place.

That’s how quickly things can change in SailGP.

A record-breaking speed. Aggressive tactics. Constant battles for wind. And a last-minute fight for the win.

This race had everything.
