Travel News: Last Minute Escapes

Contrary to popular belief, a vacation isn’t always something that’s planned. Rare as it may be, there are times in life where you just kinda throw up your hands and shout “I need to be literally anywhere else besides the space I’m currently occupying.” No time for a big itinerary, no patience to book flights and hotels and such. Just get your toothbrush and undies into the first suitcase you find and start driving in an unspecified direction. Potentially hazardous? Eh, maybe, but it’ll be something to look back on and laugh, I’m sure.

Of course, depending on where you live, you’re less likely to find what would be considered a traditional “vacation” destination. There’s not gonna be any white-sand beaches or four-star hotels. But a vacation doesn’t always need to be decadent. Just drive to a local town. Even if it’s not that far from home, as long as you’ve never been there before, there’s something new to see. Check out local attractions, learn about local history, or visit a family-owned diner and see what they can fit between two buns. At the end of the day, find the nearest (preferably clean) motel or inn, take your socks off, and go to sleep. Traveling enriches the mind and spirit, even if your destination is unspecified.
