The Secret Spot For The Best Keylime Pie
If you’re visiting Florida and haven’t eaten a key lime pie, did you really go to Florida? Key lime pie is one of the state’s most iconic desserts and for good reason. They’re sweet, tart, refreshing and full-on delicious.
Named for the small citrus fruits that were introduced to the South Florida area in the 1830s by Henry Perrine, the tart and creamy dessert can now be found on almost every menu in the Sunshine State. But there are only some places that offer the best key lime pie. Most restaurants in Key Largo to Key West use only the true ingredients to make some of the tastiest key lime pies around.
One such shop is Baker’s Cay Resort, which offers a fancy version of the classic pie: pecan and white chocolate crust and a pie that is finished with a sweet guava glaze and accompanied by a toasted coconut meringue cookie.
Kermit’s Key West Key Lime Shoppe has been operating for more than two decades and serves some of the finest key lime pie in the area. Each slice of pie uses real key limes and has a graham cracker crust. They also sell a frozen slice skewered on a stick and dipped in dark Belgian chocolate.
Another famous location is the Key West Key Lime Pie Company, which serves national-award-winning pies, made fresh daily using natural ingredients.
