Zoe Kravitz is the next Catwoman
Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, in Matt Reeves’ latest project, “The Batman.” Robert Pattinson has already been cast to play the Dark Knight in the upcoming Warner Bros. film.
According to The Wrap, Reeves and Mattson Tomlin wrote the screenplay, and the film is being produced by Reeves and Dylan Clark. Michael E. Uslan is executive producing.
Filming is scheduled to begin in January in the U.K.
This is the first time the studio has revealed that Catwoman would appear in the film. But this is not the first time Kravitz has played the role of the feline villainess. Kravitz actually played the character once before, in 2017’s “The Lego Batman Movie.”
Kravitz was also starred in the studio’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” as Leta Lestrange.
Catwoman is part of DC Comics’ “Batman” series and is commonly in association with superhero Batman. She is Batman’s most enduring love interest and became famously known for her complex love-hate relationship with the Caped Crusader.
For those who need a little backstory, Catwoman is a Gotham City burglar who typically wears a tight, one-piece outfit and uses a bullwhip for a weapon. Although originally characterized as a supervillain and adversary of Batman, she has been featured in a series since the 1990s where she is portrayed as an antiheroine.
