The Americana Honors and Awards Show returned to the historical Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 12, honoring distinguished members of the music community. Six member-voted awards and several Lifetime Achievement Awards were handed out while over 2000 artists walked the red carpet and fans and entertainment industry executives looked on.
At this year’s program, held in Nashville, TN, a vibrant mix of musical icons and electrifying newcomers made up the list of performers and presenters. Legends and longtime fan-favorites included k.d. lang, Buddy Guy, Irma Thomas, Rosanne Cash, John Prine and much more.
This year, for the first time, Americana award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated duo, The Milk Carton Kids, as well as Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan, hosted the critically acclaimed program, while Americana’s most-awarded artist, songwriter, musician and producer, Buddy Miller, took over musical direction for the Americana All-Star Band featuring Don Was, Jerry Pentecost, Joe Pisapia and more.
Many artists were honored Wednesday night at the Ryman Auditorium, going on to win album of the year, duo/group of the year and song of the year. Additionally, the 2018 Honors and Awards Show included Lifetime Achievement Award honorees. The honorees were lang, Guy, Thomas, Cash and Olivia Records pioneers Judy Dlugacz and Cris Williamson.
