Darius Brown Makes Bow Ties For Shelter Dogs
We need more sweet souls who care about animals like this child in the world. Twelve-year-old Newark, New Jersey, native Darius Brown is passionate about animals, and in order to help shelter animals have a higher chance of getting adopted he, he decided to dress them up with a spiffy accessory.
Using his organization Beaux and Paws, Brown is donating self-made bow ties to shelters so animals look good for adoption. “It helps the dog look noticeable, very attractive,” Brown told the Today Show in an interview. “It helps them find a forever, loving home … I love everything about dogs and cats.”
Brown started getting creative after his family encouraged his creativity, and throughout the process, he developed his love for animals and fashion. According to Today, Brown was diagnosed with comprehension delay, speech delay and fine motor skills delay when he was only two years old.
After Brown began making bow ties, he started to wear them nearly every day. That’s how Beaux and Paws came into fruition.
The preteen has been donating hundreds of bow ties to animal shelters throughout the country and is also fundraising to provide more of them to dogs and cats looking for a home. Every purchase from Beaux and Paws gives a donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Proceeds from those sales go towards buying more fabric and materials to create more bow ties.
