Disney Welcomes Marvel With New Theme Park Expansion
Look out world because the Avengers will soon be assembling in an area near you!
In some exciting news following the opening of the widely popular Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion last month, Disney is not stopping to take a breath and has recently revealed plans for new land. The Disneyland Resort is moving ahead on building next year’s expansion. It is a land at California Adventure Park dedicated to the superheroes of Marvel.
A Bug’s Land area in the theme park featuring characters from the 1998 Pixar movie “A Bug’s Life” will be demolished in order to make room for the construction of the new superhero section. Hyping up the fans and keeping with the famous Marvel world, a construction wall emblazoned with the words “Stark Industries,” the fictitious L.A.-based business led by Iron Man’s alter ego, Tony Stark, stands tall as construction is underway.
The cost of construction permits so far total more than $14 million. More details about the land are expected to be released at D23, which is scheduled for Aug. 23 to 25 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
But California won’t be the only one getting a Marvel land. Marvel attractions are also being planned to open at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2020, at the Epcot in Florida in 2021, and at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2023.
