Disney In Making ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Movie
Disney just keeps on rolling out the details of its Disney+ streaming service. During the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event, the company revealed that it plans to premiere 10 or more original movies and specials and more than 25 original series when the service launches Nov. 12.
Disney+’s five core content verticals are Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. The upcoming streaming service will include three new Marvel titles revealed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, as well as new original movie based off the beloved Disney Channel animated series “Phineas and Ferb.”
Created by Walt Disney Television Animation, “Phineas and Ferb” first debuted in 2007 following the broadcast premiere of “High School Musical 2.” The show went on to produce 133 episodes across four seasons, which concluded in 2015.
As true Disney Channel fans may remember, the show’s main characters spent their summer days making the most of every minute, inventing wild contraptions and attractions to delight their friends, much to the frustration of their big sister, Candace, who always tried to get them in trouble by catching them in the act. Meanwhile, their iconic pet platypus, Perry, lived a double life as a secret agent fighting evil.
The new film project has tentatively been titled “The Phineas and Ferb Movie,” not to be confused with “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension,” which debuted on Disney Channel in 2011.
