Cause of death has yet to be confirmed
South Korean singer and actress Goo Hara was found dead last week, Gangnam District Police in Seoul said. The cause of death was not revealed.
The 28-year-old singer was once part of the South Korean girl band Kara.
Goo Hara was found unconscious in her Seoul home back in May after posting the word “Goodbye” on her Instagram account. The post, which was later deleted, prompted comments and concern from fans. Goo was found and taken to the hospital.
The former K-pop star later apologized to fans for causing concern and commotion.
However, after a month of being hospitalized, Goo Hara posted on social media threatening legal action against malicious comments. She also revealed that she was suffering from depression.
It was also later revealed that Goo had a public dispute with her former boyfriend Choi Jong-bum whom she accused of blackmailing by threatening to release a video of them having sex. Although he initially denied the claims, Choi was later found guilty of blackmail and given a suspended sentence.
Just last month, 25-year-old singer Sulli was found dead at her home in Seoul from an apparent suicide, and last year, K-pop star of SHINee, Kim Jong-hyun, died by suicide in 2017.
