Target Wants To Help Teachers For Back-To-School

It’s only July but teachers across the nation are already prepping their classrooms for back-to-school. Knowing that classroom necessities and school supplies can be expensive once totaled out, Target wants to help teachers stretch their dollars.

For the second year, the retailer will offer teachers a weeklong 15 percent discount on select items starting July 13. The last back-to-school sale received a “phenomenal response,” as described by Jill Sando, Target’s senior vice president, and general merchandise manager of apparel, accessories, and home. The sale helped teachers save millions on classroom supplies.

This year though, the back-to-school event has expanded to an “assortment of items” as Target aims to help teachers save and get them “what they need for the upcoming school year,” Sando said in a statement.
The expanded items eligible for the 15 percent discount includes the typical school supplies and essentials such as disinfecting wipes and food storage bags but also includes adult clothing and accessories, furniture and playground items.

However, the discount is only available to actual K-12 teachers and teachers working at daycare centers, so Target partnered with third-party verification service SheerID to verify eligibility. Teachers will need to sign for the coupon – valid July 13-20 in stores and online – at Target.com/teacherprep.
