Trump says he dumped racy 'SNL' skits to stay on top of Iowa polls
A recent CNN/ORC poll revealed that Donald Trump is the top Republican Presidential candidate in Iowa — and the businessman isn’t about to put his spot in jeopardy. In fact, he’s so serious about staying up in the polls that he opted not to appear in certain sketches during his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live.
“There were a couple that were too risqué,” he told Bill O’Reilly in a pre-taped interview Friday. “Because you know, the poll just came down — I’m leading in Iowa, I want to stay leading in Iowa.”
Trump described the SNL writers’ room and process with his signature hyperbole: “They have 100 writers,” he said. “I walk into the room, there are 100 — and they’re all about 17 years old, OK? They’re all young and all up in your face. But they come up with many, many skits and you pick the ones you think you like.”
The most recent SNL previews show Trump putting on a wig to match that of musical guest Sia — a move that’s risky in its own right.
Trump will host Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7.
