Warner Brothers Will Team Up With Clint Eastwood For Next Movie
After Fox-Disney decided to pass on Clint Eastwood’s latest film “The Ballad of Richard Jewell,” Warner Bros. closed in on a deal to acquire the rights to the film. Eastwood will direct the film, which was in talks several years ago when Fox was still set to produce the film.
“The Ballad of Richard Jewell” follows the success of Eastwood’s most recent drama, “The Mule,” and he had since been looking for his next project. At the time, “Richard Jewell” was a part of Fox-Disney following the merging of the two companies.
However, Disney thought it would be best if the film went over to Warner Bros. as Eastwood has called the studio his home for years.
“Richard Jewell” tells the true story of Richard Jewell, a security guard who finds his world turned upside down when media reports suspected him of being involved in a terrorist plot and identified him as a possible suspect in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing. Jewell was later cleared of suspicions three months later and sadly died in 2007 of a heart attack. He was 44 years old.
Ordinally, Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio were set to star in the film, but the two will no appear in the film. Instead, the two will be limited to producing the film. In addition to Eastwood, DiCaprio and Hill, Tim Moore, Jessica Meier, and DiCaprio’s partners Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Kevin Misher will also produce the film. Billy Ray is writing the script.
