Your Alexa Device May Be Laughing At You…

Is your Alexa laughing at you? Don’t worry, you’re not out of your gourd. There have been some rather interesting reports coming from owners of Amazon smart devices, saying Alexa has been laughing at random times. Unprompted and unannounced, Alexa has been letting out childish laughter. Some have said it sounded like a child laughing…okay, that’s just creepy Alexa.

Amazon has been promising, all week this week, to fix this “glitch.” According to New York Times article highlighting this laughing frenzy, Amazon knows why its devices have been letting out these unsolicited laughs:

“In rare circumstances, Alexa can mistakenly hear the phrase ‘Alexa, laugh,’” when other words are spoken, Amazon said in an emailed statement. “We are changing that phrase to be ‘Alexa, can you laugh?’ which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance ‘Alexa, laugh.’”

Hmm…I guess only time will tell if Alexa laughing is a glitch, or something much creepier…
