Alex Trebek Has A Positive Cancer Update

Just a few months prior, Jeopardy host Alex Trebek announced his Stage4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. But now the famous game show host is seeing improvements and he shared his progress with the rest of the world.

In an interview with People, published Wednesday, Trebek revealed that he is in “near remission,” according to doctors.

“It’s kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek told the magazine. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory … some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.”

The 78-year-old also revealed that he had struggled with “deep sadness” at times while fighting cancer as well as excruciating pain both on and off camera while working on Jeopardy, but the good news from his doctors left him feeling good emotionally, even resulting in tears of joy.

Trebek also thanked his fans for being supportive and positive during his cancer battle. Fans sent the game show host a lot of good thoughts and positive energy as well as many prayers.

The survival rate for those with Trebek’s kind of cancer is 9 percent. Trebek still has several more rounds of chemotherapy to go before he can be declared fully in remission.
