This Custom Hot Wheels Took a Week to Build and a Flight to Deliver

Custom Hot Wheels

He quit his job to build toy cars. Then a millionaire called.

Six months ago, 164Luke walked away from his full-time job to chase a dream most people would laugh off: building museum-quality custom Hot Wheels.

Then came the call. A millionaire car collector in Miami wanted a one-of-one custom piece of his own Porsche 964. One week to build it. One shot to get it right.

What follows is a full teardown and rebuild. The donor car gets stripped to bare metal, the whale tail spoiler gets surgically removed to match the client’s Carrera 2, and every detail gets rebuilt from scratch. CAD-designed wheels. Hand-built brakes in aluminum and resin. A scratch-built engine, interior, and even a roll bar.

The paint is color matched to the exact factory code, Guards Red, then finished with custom printed decals for every badge and light. Even the display base is custom, carved from Peruvian walnut chosen because its grain looks like a hairpin turn with the sky behind it.

Then the real challenge starts. A flight from Calgary to Miami, carrying a piece that took a week of eighteen-hour days, to hand-deliver it to a total stranger.

The reveal is the payoff. Watch the full build and Juan’s reaction when he sees it in person here:
