It is very important for parents to do their research and hire the right person to look after their children. This important note comes in light of a recent daycare owner who was charged with nine counts of child endangerment after police say she admitted to leaving children in her care tied to car seats for up to seven hours per day.
Rebecca Anderson, 60, was arrested after officers searched the daycare she ran out of her house, Becky’s Home Child Care in Mesquite, TX. Police said when they executed the search warrant, Anderson told them there were five children inside, but four more were found.
According to an arrest warrant, Anderson is accused of strapping the children to plastic seats with shoelaces for at least seven hours a day, keeping some in dark closets. She is also accused of using over-the-counter medication to keep the children sedated and from crying.
Police were called to investigate the daycare center after the father of a six-month-old boy examined video footage taken from a hidden camera mounted to his child’s car seat. The video appeared to show Anderson yanking the boy from his car seat feeding him something from a syringe.
Neighbors also claimed that sometimes when parents would drop their kids off at Anderson’s home, they would scream at the top of their lungs.
Anderson is currently in jail on a bond of $45,000.
