The magical vault has officially opened as of yesterday and the Internet can’t sleep
But launch day didn’t come without some technical difficulties. The Walt Disney Co.’s Disney+ streaming service appeared to be hit by technical errors on Tuesday, with Twitter users mentioning problems accessing the service or some of its features around 7 a.m. ET, there was also mention of problems signing up, logging in and streaming.
Some U.S. users were allowed to purchase Disney+ on their computer, but upon trying to sign in, the streaming service would not load on smart TVs or on the PlayStation app.
Around 10 a.m., Disney released the following statement: “The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our high expectations. We are working to quickly resolve the current user issue. We appreciate your patience.”
The streaming service has hundreds of library titles available, all ranging from animated classics and Disney Channel TV shows to superhero blockbusters and intergalactic sagas. Shows that millennials grew up with, such as “Kim Possible,” “Lizzie McGuire,” and “Even Stevens” are also included and Twitter is already proving just how much people will be staying home this weekend to binge all their favorite kid shows.
The House of Mouse has been preparing for this moment for years. The company discontinued licensing contracts for its hit movies and purchased small tech company BamTech to build out its streaming platform. Needless to say, their years of work is paying off because people can’t get enough of Disney.
