Daft Punk released their last video together with a cryptic retirement announcement titled “Epilogue” featuring an except from their wordless 2006 “Electroma” film. The group hasn’t announced the reason for the split but they’ve worked nearly 30 years cultivating their robot personas.
The “Epilogue” eight-minute film shows the members of Daft Punk wandering the desert wearing the iconic robot helmets with leather jackets. One of the members removes their jacket to reveal a futuristic energy pack that is activated by the other member and the first member walks away leading to an explosion with the ending shot cut to a sunset accompanied by the “Touch” song.
Thomas Bang and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo formed Daft Punk in 1993 cultivating a reputation for hiding their identities behind robot helmets that formed their unique identity. Daft Punk’s debut album ‘Homework’ was released in 1997 giving the band international success with dance hits including “Da Funk” and “Around The World.”

The group has focused less on creating their own music and more on collaborating with other artists. Daft Punk collaborated with The Weeknd on two songs featured on the ‘Starboy’ album along with the hit song “I Feel It Coming.”
