Cancelled event due to coronavirus outbreak
Like many other events nationwide, GameStop has canceled all of its midnight release events, which means that fans will not b able to get their hands on “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” and “Doom Eternal” as soon as it is ready for release.
“Until further notice, late-night launch events are suspended,” a memo reads. For the foreseeable future, GameStop is also shutting down demo stations in their stores.
Usually, when there is a midnight release, a large number of guests gather indoors or stand in line in hopes of buying the newly released game. GameStop shops are small, so when thousands of customers gather together, the stores are densely packed.
But for those that did manage to get their hands on “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” the trip to an island paradise couldn’t have been better timing.
With everyone facing self-imposed isolation, the new “Animal Crossing” game has offered gamers a chance to vacation right in the comfort of their own home. The new game is the same as the four previous games: you, the human, find yourself in the middle of the wildness surrounded by neighbors that are animals.
The core gameplay consists of building up a life from the ground up: building a home, planting trees and vegetables, gathering fish and critters to sell or donate, etc. It’s a low-pressure game that brings satisfaction to those trying to build up a life on a tropical island.
