Guac Cheese Is Now A Thing
There is no doubt about it that avocados are all the rage lately and it seems everything is being made with avocados now, from brownies to wine. In the latest avocado venture, The Fresh Market, a North Carolina-based grocery store chain with 161 locations in 22 states, announced a new addition to its specialty cheese assortment: Amanti Guacamole Cheese.
According to The Fresh Market’s tagline for the new product, it combines “the best of both worlds, this gouda style cheese is a blend of avocado and lime juice with a touch of chili, tomato, onion, and garlic.” The Amanti Guacamole Cheese sells for $24.99/lb.
In the making process of fusing cheese and avocado together, Fresh Market dietician Meghan Flynn told the “Today Show” that avocado puree is added before the cheesemakers press the cheese curd into the desired shape. This helps to keep the puree as fresh as possible.
The Fresh Market partnered with Dutch cheese company Daily Dairy to officially merge the two lovable foods to make the zesty green wedges just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
The cheese is part Daily Dairy’s line of specialty Amanti cow’s milk cheeses that are infused with different herbs, sauces, and spices. Some of Amanti’s current flavors include red pesto, cumin, black pepper and olive, and more.
