Learning the origin story of Kylo Ren

When Disney released “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015, the famous galactic saga made a huge comeback and introduced a slew of characters while bringing back many fan favorites. The 30-year jump since “Return of the Jedi” introduced a new storyline, one of which included how Han Solo and Leia Organa’s son Ben turned to the dark side to become Kylo Ren. But other than that and seeing his mission goal, fans don’t get much else on the mysterious and intricate character.

In a new announcement (one that is sure to cater to all the comic book fans especially,) Marvel Comics shared news that it is working on a new comic series called “The Rise of Kylo Ren,” which will explore his roots.

Lucasfilm announced the four-issue comic series at the Lucasfilm publishing panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Charles Soule, the writer behind Marvel’s Darth Vader and Poe Dameron comics, will write the new series.
In a Twitter post, Soule revealed that the limited series comic will launch in December, just before the theatric release of Episode IX.

“You’re not ready (hell, I barely am),” Soule continued in his post. “The Rise of Kylo Ren” will provide some revelations into the character’s backstory, bringing back the Knights of Ren—companions of Kylo Ren who made brief appearances in “The Force Awakens.”

In other news, the Lucasfilm publishing panel unveiled additional titles and provided a glimpse at some other announced titles: “Dooku: Jedi Lost,” an audio-first title written by Cavan Scott will be given a print edition, while George Mann will write a Grimms Fairy Tales-style book set in the Star Wars universe.
