Nescafe Plans For Sleep Cafe In Japan
Cafes are normally meant for that perfect pick-me-up cup of coffee, but what if you were able to catch some much needed z’s there?
Japan is infamous for its overtime working culture and societal engagements keep people up way past their natural bedtimes. This year, coffee conglomerate Nescafe is running one of their “sleep cafes” to celebrate World Sleep Day, and this year they’ve chosen Oimachi in Tokyo as their prime snoozing spot. Café doors opened on Mar. 6, but this latest cafe is special — unlike previous pop-up sleep cafes run by the company, this one is permanent.
Previous cafes run by Nescafe have featured luxurious, high-quality mattresses and rooms with dimmed lights to create the perfect napping spot, and the new Oimachi installation is no exception.
Customers will even be permitted to choose their preferred hardness for the mattresses and pillows, select relaxing music and lighting, and can even use an eyemask that will monitor their sleep patterns.
The café offers numerous “courses,” from a 30-minute nap course to a 180-minute sleep course. Additionally, all courses come with at least one cup of coffee. The nap course comes with a regular cup right before the 30-minute siesta. In the sleep courses, a cup of decaffeinated coffee is offered before resting while a caffeinated one is provided once the customer wakes up.
Does this sound like a café you’d like to visit?
