Nespresso is offering one of the purest coffees in the world
Your cup of morning coffee is getting an upgrade in the form of pure Puerto Rican coffee. Nespresso is producing its first-ever, 100 percent Puerto Rican coffee, but even more exciting is the fact that the coffee pod giant will be represented by brand ambassador George Clooney and fellow actor and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Cafecito de Puerto Rico is a rare coffee that reportedly highlights the natural earthiness of Puerto Rico’s coffee beans.
Nespresso says it is launching the limited-edition line as part of its commitment to revive the island’s coffee industry. Back in 2017, Hurricanes Maria and Irma destroyed more than half of Puerto Rico’s coffee trees and harvest, and since then, Nespresso brand ambassador Clooney has made it part of his mission to help with sustainability initiatives.
During his last visit, Clooney met with farms and farmers to discuss the impact and necessary means to revive the land. The Hispanic Federation has also been working with local coffee farmers to help revitalize their crops.
The Miranda family is also playing a part in the revitalization, announcing the launch of a three-year initiative to bring back Puerto Rico’s coffee sector.
Other organizations taking part in the initiative include Starbucks, the Rockefeller Foundation, TechnoServe and World Coffee Research.
