Prince Harry celebrates his birthday with CAMFED
Prince Harry is celebrated his 36th birthday with his wife Meghan Markle by giving instead of receiving a gift to a charity that helps educate young girls in Africa. A group supports for the couple called the Sussex Squad started a fundraising campaign on social media for a pan-African organization, CAMFED.
Sussex Squad raised awareness and funding for its fundraiser with social media posts using the hashtag #InspiredByMeghan that raised $129,926 for the charity. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to thank the group and supporters that donated to CAMFED by matching the donation for $130,000.
The combined total of the donation will provide 113 African women with scholarship funding for higher education. The royal couple has a connection with CAMFED for several years and supported their work through the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
Meghan Markle appeared on a panel for International Women’s Day in 2019 with the Executive Director of CAMFED Africa, Angie Murimirwa.
