Part 1 of the new series debuts on Netflix
The Tejana singer, Selena Quintanilla, will be honored for the 25th anniversary of her passing with a new Netflix series “Selena: The Series” for a journey of her rise to fame and the music that celebrated her Mexican-American heritage. The series will follow Selena’s rise to fame and is a story about the Quintanilla family living in Texas and striving for a better life by overcoming the struggles Latinos face entering the entertainment industry.

Christian Serratos will be playing Selena in the new series after her previous role on AMC’s “Walking Dead” and the “Twilight” movie series. Serratos is excited to be playing the role of a lifetime and the series will detail the Tejana singer’s life.
The first part series will begin with Selena’s birth in Lake Jackson, Texas in 1971 to the release of her second album “Ven Conmigo” in 1990 and her journey navigating life as a young American with Latino heritage. Despite having a Latino heritage, Selena didn’t know Spanish when she started singing but started embracing the Spanish language and culture when she started performing in Mexico.
The Quintanilla family worked closed with Netflix for this project to protect Selena’s legacy after her tragic and early passing at the age of 23. Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, is the CEO of the family’s entertainment company, Q Productions, and is also one of the series’ executive producers.
Suzette started out as a drummer in the Selena y Los Dino band at the beginning of her entertainment career but evolved to management. The series will also give more insight into the Quintanilla family and how they wrote some of their best songs.
“Selena: The Series” Part 1 is available now on Netflix and fans can look forward to more Selena for Part 2.
