Starbucks Refuses To Sell Venti Nitro Cold Brew

Some people just want to drink jet fuel…

If you really need that coffee jolt, the best approach at Starbucks is to extract as much caffeine at the lowest cost per milligram possible. A Nitro Cold Brew, which is the Seattle coffee giant’s variety of cold coffee poured directly from a keg, offers just that. A grande Nitro cold brew contains 280 milligrams of caffeine in a 16-ounce cup.

While this might seem like a lot, some people want more than a grande. Some customers are calling for Starbucks to sell them a venti Nitro Cold Brew, but Starbucks refuses to do so. Hypothetically, if the coffee chain were to sell the cold brews in that size, that means that there would be 20 ounces of coffee in a venti, meaning it would contain somewhere around 350 milligrams of caffeine, maybe a little more.

Many might think it’s because of the level of caffeine, but for Starbucks, it might be more of a profit margin issue. Most of the cold drinks at Starbucks come with ice in them, which means customers are getting less product to accommodate the ice.

With no ice in a nitro cold brew, the drink is just pure coffee. So basically, Starbucks won’t let us order a Venti of their Nitro Cold Brews because of the fact that there is no ice in the cups to counter how much coffee you are being served. And of course, customers are not going to want to pay more money just to get a larger size.
