New Challenge To Help Promote Cleaning The Environment
This could quite possibly be one of the best challenges to come out of social media.
Recently, the so-called “trashtag challenge” has gained steam all over the globe, encouraging people to clean up littered areas of their local communities and sharing the images of their “before” and “after” to social media.
As a result, the #trashtag hashtag has led to thousands of photos being posted on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and more.
The challenge has made it around the world and is encouraging teenagers in particular to get outside and help to clean up the environment — whether it is beaches, roadsides, parks, etc.
But most notable about this recent social media challenge is unlike the others, the #trashtag challenge makes people feel good about themselves and the environment around them, and helps to clean up spaces for others.
Since gaining popularity, thousands of people have been going outdoors to help clear trash and litter and bringing attention to taking care of the community for future generations.
The challenge is said to have been started by the outdoor gear company UCO Gear in 2015, but a post by Byron Román on Facebook reignited the challenge.
So if you’re just sitting around at home or aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, then perhaps it’s a good time to participate in the challenge and share your “before” and “after” photos.
