Can you imagine the days when forgetting to put on deodorant was, well, every single day because it didn’t exist?
The first deodorant, which killed odor-producing bacteria, was trademarked in 1888 by a woman named Edna Murphey. And the first anti-perspirant, which blocks sweat as well, came on the market in 1903. But back in those Victorian times, people traditionally bathed or smothered themselves in perfume to combat body odor, according to Smithsonian Magazine.
These days, it’s a different story. The deodorant and anti-perspirant industry is a whopping $18 billion. That’s a big enough budget for some creativity — and maybe a few blunders.
In the spirit of the overwhelming amount of options of deodorants and anti-perspirants, we asked a few folks at Mashable to give six very unique deodorants a whiff and try to guess its scent.
