A Kenyan ocean conservatory group try and keep their beaches as clean as they possibly can. While they pick up all sorts of trash, they are really after one specific thing: old flip flops. They take the old discarded flip flops are turn them into beautiful works of art. The group calls themselves Ocean Sole.
The colorful pieces of plastic make for unique and elaborate pieces of art that will seriously catch your eye. So they are both alleviating the ecosystem of harmful plastic and making something really awesome out of it.
Here is the process to making a piece of flip flop art. Collect the flip flops and gently wash all of the dirt and sand off. The flip flops are then assembled into blocks and sent off for carving. Once the block is labeled and carved, it is sent off to locations around the world.
