Alicia Keys Is The First Female Host Of The Grammys In 14 Years

She just went on to show the world that she is the hostess with the mostess!

Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys thrilled as host of the 2019 Grammy Awards, and people took to social media to celebrate her positive vibes. Keys opened Sunday night’s show by bringing out four influential women: former first lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez.

“Tonight we celebrate the greatness in each other,” Keys said onstage.

Keys, who was the first female host of the show in 14 years, tackled the job with her signature super-chill approach to music’s biggest and busiest night. The last woman to host the Grammys was Queen Latifah in 2005.

The 15-time Grammy winner had many stand-out moments, but her dazzling musical prowess was spotlighted when Keys played on two pianos at the same time. She performed everything from Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” to Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song” to Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.”

“Music is just, you know, those songs that just live inside of you. It lives inside of me. And you just love it so much because it was done so well that you wish you wrote it. That’s how I feel about these songs. I wish I wrote them,” Keys said.
