With images and video footage of the devastation in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian, many in South Florida have asked how to help the islands. The South Florida community is beginning to collect relief supplies and donations for the Bahamian people at locations all across Miami-Dade and Broward.
For those looking to help, below is a list of items that are needed:

– Baby formula
– First aid items
– Flashlight
– Batteries
– Small generators
Many locations across both counties have opened up to the public to receive donations.
Additionally, the Walt Disney Company said it will donate more than $1 million to help relief and recovery efforts in the Bahamas. The company will commit money in cash and support. The donation is being led by Disney Cruise Line. An exclusive port by Disney Cruise Line includes Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas near Great Abaco Island.
Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer, The Walt Disney Company, said “We hope our $1 million donations will provide much-needed relief and help our neighbors, colleagues, and all those impacted by this devastating storm begin the long process of recovery as they work to put their lives and communities back together.”
Also sending supplies and relief is Royal Caribbean. The cruise line is committing $1 million to Dorian disaster relief. Additionally, ITM, the company’s partner in the Holistica joint venture that is developing the Grand Lucayan resort in Freeport, is donating $100,000, according to a press release.
