HBO announces new “SpaceX” limited series
HBO is working on another series about space exploration but more importantly the man behind SpaceX, Elon Musk, with the help of Channing Tatum. HBO announced they will be working with Tatum’s production company, Free Association, to create a series following Musk’s early days of his space exploration venture, SpaceX.
The new series will be based on Musk’s biography written by Ashlee Vance including the first successful rocket launch into orbit for SpaceX. The limited series slated “SpaceX” will feature six episodes exploring Musk’s vision to colonize Mars and the possibility of living on another planet.
The limited HBO series will touch on Musk’s impact on the aeronautic industry and SpaceX’s impact on the private space exploration industry. Though the show is all about Musk, reports have confirmed that he actually will have no involvement in the HBO project.
Musk started his space exploration venture by selling PayPal to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. Musk netted $165 million from the deal and invested $100 million into his space exploration venture.
Six years after his initial investment, SpaceX launched its first rocket, Falcon 1, into space in September 2008. Musk’s goal with SpaceX is to allow humans to be a multi-planetary species and provide more affordable spaceflight.
