Netflix Inspired By Magic
In some exciting news for the gaming and cinematic world, Wizards of the Coast have partnered with Joe and Anthony Russo, the famous brothers behind Marvel’s many films like “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame,” to create a new series for Netflix.
The Russo Brothers’ next big project will be “Magic” The Gathering,” and the two will “oversee the creation of an all-new storyline,” as announced by the Wizards of the Coast press release.
Details of the story have yet to be revealed, but rumors say that the focus will be on the series’ trademark Planeswalkers, the characters that drive the game’s intricate plot.
“Magic: The Gathering” was created in 1993 by Richard Garfield, and the card game has since gained millions of fans around the globe. The game even celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year.
This is not the first time there have been spin-offs on “Magic: The Gathering,”; there is a currently-running comic book series and a series of novels, but this is the first time the game will be making its debut on television.
The “Magic” adaption is said to be animated by the Vancouver, B.C.-based studio Bardel Entertainment, with production by the Californian firm Octopie. Todd Makurath, Eric Calderon, and Dave Newberg will produce the film while Henry Gilroy (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars“) and Jose Molina (“The Tick,” “Agent Carter“) is slated as lead writers and executive producers.
