Disney Already Considering Sequel For Live-Action ‘Aladdin’
Everybody’s favorite blue genie friend is expected to make a comeback in an adventure-filled sequel!
That’s right! Following the storyline of the animated films, it has been reported that Disney is in the early stages of developing an Aladdin 2, otherwise known as “The Return of Jafar.” From the reports, much of the cast from the first film is expected to return, but because things are still in the early stages, it is unclear whether Guy Ritchie will be back to direct the sequel.
As the title suggests, the sequel’s animated story saw Jafar escape from the Cave of Wonders to wreak havoc on Agrabah once again. Although the original animated film was met with mixed reviews, the live-action remake could use the framework of the animated version to come up with something different from the original.
But one noticeable difference in the sequel (for those who may remember the ending of the first film), is the fact that 2019’s “Aladdin” ended with the titular hero wishing for Genie to become free, making Will Smith’s character human who is last seen sailing around the world with his new family.
While it’s possible that Disney will follow its animated line-up, there’s also the route of doing something new entirely, but it is hard to say right now as the studio’s course-of-action still remains unclear.
