Meet the unicorn pup named Narwhal
Meet Narwhal, the rescued ‘unicorn’ puppy with a tail on his face who is capturing the hearts of animal lovers everywhere. Narwhal is just like any other puppy; he loves to play, chew things and give kisses. However, he has a second tail sprouting from his forehead — an appendage — which is what prompted the nickname “unicorn puppy.”
“We are so stupid excited about it,” said Rochelle Steffen, founder of the Jackson, Mo. based organization that is currently caring for Narwhal.
Called Mac’s Mission, the organization focuses on “special needs” dogs that require extra medical care due to birth defects, injuries or abuse.
Narwhal is the poster child for “special is awesome,” according to a post written on Facebook. The puppy was named after the whale with the same name because they have a single large tusk and are sometimes called the “unicorn of the sea.”
The puppy seems to be a dachshund mix, according to Steffen, with some characteristics reminiscent of a golden retriever. Narwhal, who suffered from frostbite on two of his toes, was rescued from the cold streets and was treated for worms. Cape Small Animal Clinic’s Brian Heuring examined Narwhal and confirmed that his deformity will not affect his quality of life.
Since then, the puppy has been doing great and is nothing but happy.
