Breakout actress Sophia Lillis (the young Beverly Marsh in “It: Chapter One”) will be taking on the role of the famous teen detective for “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase.” Warner Bros has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming mystery flick.
Warner Bros. last made a Nancy Drew movie in 2007 starring Emma Roberts. This new film, though, is playing up a potentially supernatural aspect, while keeping things light and fun.
As seen from the trailer, Nancy is a bit of an outsider struggling to fit in to her new surroundings. She and her pals set out to solve the mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community.
“Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase” also stars Linda Lavin, Sam Trammell, Andrea Anders, Zoe Renee, Mackenzie Graham, and Laura Wiggins.
For those who grew up reading all of the Nancy Drew books, they’ll likely remember “The Hidden Staircase,” which is the second volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series written under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene, published in 1930.
The novel was adapted as a Warner Bros. movie once before, “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase,” in 1939.
