Clooney Is Working With Netflix On Upcoming Project
Another huge Hollywood star is taking part in a Netflix production, showing just how powerful the streaming service is becoming. After his brief television stint r Hulu’s “Catch-22,” George Clooney is returning from a three-year movie hiatus for Netflix’s “Good Morning, Midnight,” which he will star in and direct.
According to THR, the post-apocalyptic drama follows “the parallel stories of Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to make contact with the crew of the Aether spacecraft as they try to return home to Earth.”
“Good Morning, Midnight” is an adaption of a 2016 novel with the same name written by Lily Brooks-Dalton. The film was adapted for the small screen by “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith.
For the film, Clooney will be partnering with producing partner Grant Heslov, and the project will be produced pic under their Smokehouse Pictures banner with Anonymous Content and Syndicate Entertainment, who sourced the material. The novel was published under Random House and was named one of the best books of the year by Shelf Awareness and the Chicago Review of Books.
“Grant and I couldn’t be more excited to be involved with this incredible project,” Clooney said in a statement. “Mark is a writer we’ve long admired and his script is haunting. We’re thrilled to be working with our friends at Netflix as well.”
Production is set to begin in October and the film is slated for a 2020 release.
