Dance with wolves in Texas
Have you ever wanted to go and meet real wolves? For a small fee of $10, you can at the Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary, a nonprofit Texas “whose mission is to rescue and provide a loving, exceptional home to non-releasable wolves and wolfdogs, and to educate the public about these animals,” according to the official website.
In other words, it is a charity that rescues and provides wolves and wolfdogs the homes and care they need because they cannot survive in the wild.
Located in Montgomery, TX, just a short drive away from Houston, the sanctuary has been in operation since 2002.
Guided walking tours are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 1 p.m. and on Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. for those who want to learn about the history of the animals. The sanctuary even offers a VIP tour, birthday party experience and more.
The sanctuary houses 11 animals, all with incredible names and stories.
The sanctuary has plans to relocate by early 2020 to Navasota, 15 minutes from the original location. The new location if bigger and better for the wolf pack and will also allow for more opportunities to improve enclosures and facilities.
People can even go and volunteer at the sanctuary or donate if they would like to support the SFWS’s animals.
