Storytime with film legend Julie Andrews

If you are a fan of Disney then you will know who can make the medicine go down. Julie Andrews worked with Walt Disney on the original 1964 “Mary Poppins” film, and now she announced that she and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, will start a family-friendly storytime podcast.

Called Julie’s Library, the podcast, which is in partnership with American Public Media, is set to debut later this spring. It will feature Andrews and her daughter reading classic and current children’s books.

Hamilton is a children’s author known for her “A Very Fairy Princess” series. Together with her mom, the two have co-authored nearly 30 books for kids, including “Little Bo in London,” and “Julie Andrews Treasury For All Seasons.”

Andrews hopes that the podcast will “[P]rovide family listening pleasure, inspire meaningful conversations, and be a trusted resource for literary enjoyment and learning.” There is also an official Julie’s Library website that fans and parents and kids can visit prior to the launch of the podcast.

Other celebrities have been providing stories and books for kids during this tough time. Josh Gad and Dolly Parton have been reading bedtime stories and Disney actors Chris Evans and Hilary Duff have both partnered with @SaveWithStories, a program that offers stories on Instagram and Facebook to provide fun and educational content to kids suck at home.
