Get ready for a “dino-mite” new ride!
The Jurassic World: The Ride attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood has officially opened to the public via a soft opening and has seen much success. For the ride, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong are reprising their roles as Owen, Claire and Dr. Henry Wu reprised their roles from the movies, and even the Mosasaur and the Indominous Rex made an appearance.
The new attraction replaces the old Jurassic Park ride, which had a 22-year run as one of the park’s earliest thrill rides last September.
The ride is said to be much, much scarier and wetter than the old ride, making it the attraction and kind of experience it was always intended to be. The 84-foot drop is no longer the unexpected heart-stopping moment anymore; a new aquarium observatory with semi-realistic screen “portals” lets guests see the massive Mosasaurus whip by them on both sides until the tank “breaks,” blasting the 25-passenger boat down the path.
The voice of Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays Claire Dearing in the film series, then comes on saying, “Please remain calm,” assuring passengers that help is on the way despite the Indominus Rex being on the loose. In other news, a sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise is scheduled for a 2021 release.
