Action actor turns comic book author
After conquering movies and video games, Keanu Reeves has officially stepped into the world of comic books. In collaboration with Boom Studios, the “John Wick” star teamed up with co-writer Matt Kindt (“Folklords”), artist Alessandro Vitti (Marvel’s “Secret Warriors”), colorist Bill Crabtree, and letterer Clem Robins to write his very first comic book titled “BRZRKR.”
“BRZRKR” is a 12-issue limited series that is described as being “brutally violent.” The series follows one immortal warrior’s fight through the ages who happens to look a lot like Reeves.
The character, known Berzerker, is half-mortal, half-god. Compelled toward violence, Berzerker lives through the ages to end up in the modern world where he now works for the U.S. government to fight the battles too dangerous for mortal man. For his service, Berzerker will be granted the truth about his existence as well as how to end it.
The cover art of the new comic book series was done by Rafael Grampá (“Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child”) and will be released in local comic bookstores this October.
“I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically,” Reeves said in a statement. Reeves went on to say that it was a “dream come true” to work with a team of “legends.”
