Life after 'The Daily Show': Jon Stewart grows a beard and becomes Farmer Jon
After 16 years of hosting The Daily Show, no one can blame Jon Stewart for disappearing to get some much needed R&R.
The best way to do it?
Being “surrounded by manure,” according to Stewart.
Stewart and his wife, Tracey, invited Gayle King of CBS This Morning to their new farm in New Jersey, where they discussed how life after The Daily Show is going.
Though he says he misses his old co-workers — “we email” — Stewart doesn’t miss the show itself at all.
Why? “Because I feel like I completed it. It’s when you feel like you complete a project to the best of your ability. When you’ve done the best that you think you’re able to do. …So I can’t regret. All I can do now is be happy that I had that opportunity,” he said.
“The joy is in creating it, in growing it, in evolving it. Maintaining it is the part that when it becomes rote or redundant, then you feel like, ‘Well, I’m not really adding a lot of value to this anymore, am I?'”
Fair enough.
While Stewart said that he still works and writes, he appreciates the flexibility in his schedule that allows him to take his kids to school, grow a beard, and keeping watch over the farm’s animals.
“I’m surrounded by manure, man. What could be better than that?”
