One special dipping sauce sold for about $15,000 on eBay. While typically there is little monetary value associated with dipping sauces, some can be worth thousands of dollars. Recently a Mulan Sze Chuan teriyaki dipping sauce sold on eBay for $14,700.
The reason it was so special is because it was “released as a tie-in for the Disney movie Mulan, but it hasn’t been available since this film came out in 1998…Its popularity can only be explained by a viral stunt that the creators of Adult Swim animated comedy Rick and Morty launched a few years back.”
The person who sold it on eBay claimed that he had just bought a really old car and found the dipping sauce on the floor of the car. When he went online to see if it was worth anything, it turns out that it was! A live action version of Mulan is set to come out in 2018, so fans are petitioning McDonald’s to bring the Sze Chuan sauce back. McDonald’s is considering the request.
