The post-disaster New York City shown in Tom Clancy’s The Division is the fodder for a 30-minute video short premiering on Amazon Prime’s streaming service Tuesday.
The Division Agent Origins sets the scene for the upcoming game, serving almost as an extended live-action trailer. It was created in collaboration with three high-profile YouTube producers: RocketJump, Corridor Digital and devinsupertramp; each created a long scene for the series, and they were strung together for a bigger piece.
The film takes place sometime after a highly contagious disease has put much of New York City into chaos. Basic services have failed, sections of the city are quarantined and survivors are hiding at home from danger. Looting and lawlessness have taken hold, as specialized soldiers, members of The Division, are activated from their civilian lives. We follow four of these agents as they rally to each other, and see a final standoff with a group of escaped convicts who have taken hostages.
Corridor Digital’s “Ashes,” RocketJump’s “Conspiracies” and devinsupertramp’s “Pursuit” can all be watched on their respective YouTube channels, and the full Agent Origins can be found on Amazon Prime Video.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is out March 2 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. An invite-only beta begins Jan. 28 for those who have pre-ordered.
