Take a drive down Haunted Road in Orlando
Fans of the spooky October holiday will not be able to celebrate this year at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood The Florida theme park made the “difficult decision” to cancel its annual Halloween Horror Nights event this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Instead, Universal Orlando Resort will focus exclusively on operating its theme parks for daytime guests and will follow “enhanced” health and safety procedures per CDC guidelines.
Things like social distancing, health screenings, and sanitizing are put in place to make guests’ experience safe. But fear not because fans of pumpkins, ghosts, monsters, and clowns will still get the thrill and scare of their life with the upcoming drive-thru Halloween experiences.
“The Haunted Road” is a new Halloween experience in Orlando, Florida, and according to a press release, the storyline will present familiar characters in a way that fans have never seen them before. “Twisted creatures. Immersive theatrical storytelling. Bloodcurdling encounters,” the official website says.
“A new, completely contactless Halloween experience is coming to Central Florida. Get ready to journey into a world of disarray as you experience Orlando’s first drive-thru Halloween event.”
Guests will drive through various nightmarish scenes and will be immersed into frightening renditions of fairy tale characters and more. Tickets are priced at $15 per person but will vary by date.
The event will run on selected nights from Sept. 25 to Nov.7. Tickets will go on sale today, Aug. 19. The Haunted Road is being put on by a “Collective group of passionate, award-winning local professionals that are collaborating to bring to life a first-of-its-kind event in Orlando.”
The event will also feature a family-friendly experience that will take place during the day on select weekends from Oct. 3 through Oct. 31. Families will be able to celebrate the “tricks and treats of Halloween” that are “not-too-scary.”
